ON SPIDERS
Spiders give themselves another chance in worlds where they Create
“Allowables” - Nikki GIovanni
I killed a spider Not a murderous brown recluse Nor even a black widow And if the truth were told this Was only a small Sort of papery spider Who should have run When I picked up the book But she didn’t And she scared me And I smashed her I don’t think I’m allowed To kill something Because I am Frightened
My response is below:)
“Woe of Spiders //” - me (old version)
Spiders dreamed of song and dance Lamenting epochs gone, now past Recanting they do not last On battlegrounds of their brethren When time and Spiders crept on For blue-grey pastures of their own Fathered beings all anew To break raw soils with strength more true Alas, our tricksters’ great stand Creations ner woman nor man Strength given image their own Of rhyme and song and bones outshone The goblin child is their breed On traps and riddles do they bleed New worlds a’given over To masters who are composers Tricksters’ style is song and dance Like Creators of times gone past Woe to those opposed afield Strange magics do the children wield Silver tongues need not worry Of warfare, verse is their glory Find Spiders’ world Where no such thing Claims throne greater than word, their king
